Marcus Räihä - the Kiteboarding Service Manager

I joined Nico 7 months ago as a Service Manager. I had worked in various IT positions during the last 10 years. Prior to joining Nico, I spent one year at home with my kids (an opportunity that I could not resist when it was offered to me). I was also looking for a change and ready to try out a different concept of employment. Nico provided them both.

Since I joined Nico, I’ve been working as an IT Product Manager for an IT service. In this customer assignment I have had the opportunity to expand my competence to new knowledge areas, which has been an interesting and a good learning experience for me.

What I like about Nico is its ability to combine the best features of a large and a small enterprise. This is manifested, among others, in the flexible and transparent way Nico operates. In addition, Nico offers a very competitive salary system to its employees. I also like the idea of being able to influence the kind of tasks and assignments I get involved in and have the possibility to balance work and family life.

The kind of employment contract Nico offers does not necessarily suit those who like to know exactly what they will be doing in the long term. This needs to be taken into account when planning one’s life and finances. I, for my part, find it exciting not to know exactly what new opportunities lay ahead. So far this has been a positive learning experience, and getting involved in new areas of knowledge keeps me from getting bored.

When it comes to my personal life, I’m a father of two children (3 and 5 years), so naturally most of my spare time is spent with my family. Kite-boarding comes right after that! I simply love spending the day at the seaside regardless of the weather and even a few hours of kiting is sufficient to keep me smiling for days.
